General University Scholarship (Transfers Only)

Award Information

General University Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and selection is highly competitive. They are made possible by the generous contributions of many individuals to the University of Oregon. General University Scholarships are one-year, non-renewable awards that are between $1000-$4000.

This application is only for Undergraduate Transfer & Post Baccalaureate students applying for Spring/Summer/Fall 2024 admissions

  • Current High School Seniors applying as Incoming Freshmen to UO for Summer/Fall 2024 admissions: You are automatically considered for this award if you meet all UO Admissions office requirements, you do not need to submit this application.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Apply for admission by March 15
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater
  • Domestic, International and Dreamer students are all eligible to apply.

How to Apply

  • Submit this application by April 1.
  • Your online reference must also be submitted no later than April 1.

Selection Criteria

Scholarship recipients are selected by the General University Scholarship selection committee based on the following:

  • Academic performance based on review of transcripts from all past institutions and UO academic records (if applicable)
  • Extracurricular involvement
  • Faculty reference
  • Writing ability
  • Creativity as demonstrated in the essays

Scholarship Renewal

General University Scholarships are awarded for one year only. Students are encouraged to reapply each year.

Award Notification

Recipients will be notified in June.

  2. Critically evaluate one important aspect of your educational experience to date. Among your options are a book, a course, an individual, or significant experience that influenced you in a meaningful way.
  3. Reference Request: Provide the name and email address for a past or current instructor/faculty member who has agreed to provide a reference on your behalf.

    You should reach out to this individual personally at least 10 days before the scholarship deadline so that they can talk with you about your request and have plenty of time to get it submitted.

  4. I understand that in addition to submitting the Transfer General University Scholarship application by April 1, a letter of reference must be submitted by my recommender by April 1. I authorize the university to share the reference submitted on my behalf to the selection committee for review as part of my application materials.
  5. I understand that my past academic records are part of selection and that I must have a least a 3.50 cumulative GPA in order to meet the minimum requirements for this award. I also understand that all of my official academic transcripts must be submitted to the UO Office of Admissions no later than April 1 in order to receive full consideration for this opportunity.
